History with BALANCE

Abigail met BALANCE Co-Founder Carol Brett through the Pony Club during her time training with Chris McGrann (see below).  Soon after, she trained for the BrTRF role and became a devoted pupil studying Functional Riding & Training with Carol.  Abigail continued to have very regular coaching and training from her until Carol passed away in 2018.  She continues her training now with BALANCE Co-Founder Lesley Taylor-Brett and continues her work as a BrSC.

Equestrian Experience

Abigail was born into a farming family and was taught to ride before she could walk!

She became a Pony Club member at the age of eight and competed in all disciplines, eventing being her favourite!  She remained an active member of Pony Club until she was 21 and competed in Junior Regional Novices from the age of 15 through to 18.  At the age of 21, Abigail progressed into a professional equine career embarking on a two year apprenticeship with Chris McGrann at his yard in Yorkshire; passing her Pony Club ‘A’ Test and becoming a finalist in the British Dressage Talent Spotting.  During this time she learned the traditions of horse management and instils this ethos to her students and clients. Abigail enjoys keeping in touch with her roots and is a devoted Pony Club and Riding Club instructor.

In 1999 Abigail returned to Lancashire to start her own competition yard where she specialises in breaking and schooling horses, making excellent use of all she has learned from her extensive time training with the BALANCE Co-founders in Functional Riding & Training. Over the last 10 years she has built a successful business and a reputation to match.

Abigail values equestrian traditions whilst embracing and promoting modern methods and techniques that prove beneficial to both horse and rider. This attitude is proving successful for her while following her Eventing dreams and she is currently competing at Intermediate and 1* level with aspirations to progress to 2* in the near future.
