Mein Pferd heisst Irco und ist ein 12 Jahre alter Schweizer Warmblut Wallach.
Ausgebildet in Dressur und Springen, wurde 8 jährig eine HalsArthrose bei ihm diagnostiziert. 10jährig hatte sich diese Arthrose stark verschlimmert, dass er immer wieder unklar, teils lahm lief.
Mit 10,5 Jahren kam Irco als Freizeitpferd zu mir. Kleinere Veränderungen, nahm ich anfangs vor (Wechsel des Hufschmiedes, Futterumstellung bzw. Futterzusätze). Auf Anraten liess ich einen teuren „Masssattel“ fertigen, da Irco „vollschlank“ geraten ist. Drei Monate nach der Bestellung kam dann der neue Sattel. Anfangs gefiel er ihm deutlich besser, als der Jahre vorher für ihn gefertigte. Doch innert 6 Monaten wurde klar, dass der Sattel eindeutig zu eng ist. Ständige Verschiebungen des schwachen Illeosakral-Gelenkes traten auf und die Kopfspitzen hinterliessen fühlbare Druckstellen. Ganz zu schweigen, von seinen drohenden Gebärden (Zähne zeigen und mit dem Fuss schlagen), sobald der Sattel in sein Gesichtsfeld geriet. Der Sattler war leider sehr unkooperativ.
Also wiedermal getreu dem altbewährten Motto: Nimm es selber in die Hand und bilde dich weiter! In meiner Ausbildung zur Tierakupressur wurde ich durch die Kursleiterin auf BALANCE International aufmerksam gemacht. Kurze Zeit später nahm ich an einem Informationstag in Avenches teil. Birgitta Bergstens Ausführungen und die anschliessende Sattelprobe von den anderen Kursteilnehmern an den eigenen mitgebrachten Pferden, überzeugten.
Die Entscheidung stand fest. Bis zum nächsten Besuch von Birgitta in der Schweiz sollte kein Sattel mehr auf Ircos Rücken liegen. Somit wurde innerhalb der nächsten 4 Monate ein Trainigsplan zum Muskelaufbau/-stärkung aufgestellt. Dies mit der Unterstützung einer Bodentrainerin(Doppellonge, Bodenarbeit, Stangentraining, spazieren, …). , Chiropraktikerin und einer sehr lieben Freundin, die Irco immer wieder ein Taping für ein konstant stabiles Illeosakral-Gelenkes klebte. Die Lacher, aufgrund der vielen bunten Streifen am Po, hatte er auf seiner Seite :o)
Bei Birgittas sehnlichst erwartetem Besuch suchte Irco sich zielstrebig den Sattel MATRIX aus. Stopp, dem schmerzenden Kopfspitzen!, schien er sagen zu wollen.
Sattel bestellt, bei Balance auf Lager und innert 7 Tagen hielt ich das gute Stück in den Händen :o) Es sind seitdem 8 Monate vergangen. Der Sattel gefällt ihm bis heute sehr sehr gut. Seine Bauchmuskeln haben stark zugenommen. Wir gehen seit 5 Monaten wöchentlich in die Dressurstunde und seit kurzem in die Springgymnastik. Ein stabiles Illeosakral-Gelenk und ein hochmotiviertes Pferd ist das Ergebnis. Die Arthrose ist in den 1,5 Jahren, seitdem ich Irco besitze unauffällig. Dies dank zusätzlicher Hilfe und Unterstützung von Chrissie Mason, UK.
Wir geniessen gemeinsam viele Ausritte, Patrouillenritte, Unterrichtsstunden und Irco zeigt von Tag zu Tag mehr, was in ihm steckt. Jetzt auch unter dem Sattel mit unbändiger Gehfreude und Motivation.

My horse is called Irco and is a 12-year-old Swiss Warmblood gelding.
Trained in dressage and jumping, he was a mad eight year old diagnosed with osteoarthritis. At the age of 10 years, the arthritis had greatly aggravated, that he often walk unsound, partly go lame.
At 10.5 years Irco came to me as a pleasure horse. I took minor changes (changing the farrier, feed conversion and feed additives). On the advice I left an expensive "Mass saddle" finished, because Irco has come "full figured". Three months after order the new saddle came. At first he liked it much better than the old saddle, which was made for him years ago. But within six months it became clear, that the saddle is definitely too narrow. Constant shifts of the weak link illeosakral-joint occured and the head points left their tangible pressure points. Not to mention on his threatening gestures when the saddle fell into his field of vision (show teeth and strike with the foot). The saddler was unfortunately very uncooperative.
Then I acted on my tried and true motto: Take it into your own hands and form on you! In my training as a veterinary acupuncture course, Lisbeth Traffelet (the instructor) made me aware of BALANCE International. A short time later, I went to an information day in Avenches. Birgitta Bergsten's remarks and the subsequent demonstration of the BALANCE saddle, to the other students who brought their own horses, were convincing.
The decision was clear. Until the next visit by Birgitta in Switzerland, there should no longer be a saddle on IRCO's back. Within the next 4 months a training schedule to build muscle / gain started. This with the support of a ground trainer in (double lunge walking, floor work, pole training, ...), chiropractor and a very dear friend who would always put tape on Irco for a consistent Illeosakral-joint. The laughs, because of the many colourful stripes on his rump, were on his side.
During Birgitta's eagerly anticipated visit, Irco choose the Matrix saddle. 'Stop, the pinching tree points!', he seemed to say. The saddle was ordered at BALANCE UK and within 7 days the saddle was in my hands. It's been eight months since then. Irco likes it very very well. His stomach muscles have grown strong. We go every week for the last 5 months in the dressage lesson and more recently in the Spring gymnastics. He has a stable illeosakral joint and a highly motivated horse is the result. The arthritis is now, in the 1.5 years since I have had Irco, inconspicuous. This is due to additional help and support from Chrissie Mason, UK.
We enjoy many rides together, patrol rides, lessons and Irco shows every day more, what he is and like. Now he shows unrestrained joy and motivation under saddle .
