The small version of our Remedial B pad is designed to create some lift and support under the back of the saddle, these pads are often called, 'riser pads'. They can be used under the BALANCE Robin, Wren or Bug saddles.
The BALANCE Pro-Complete Remedial B Pad for Junior Saddles
We occasionally come across a pony who has a back shape/profile where the withers seem to extend back a long way into and under the saddle area, and this can make it difficult to provide a saddle that is a good shape and width for the pony, and still have it sitting level on his back.
This kind of back shape picks the saddle up at the front and drops it down at the back, which unbalances the rider and directs too much of their weight towards the back of the saddle. When the weight of the rider is too concentrated towards the back of the saddle, the reflex points in the pony's back in this area are over-stimulated, which causes the pony to contract the long back muscles. (Dropped Back Posture) With the back pulled down, the saddle is even more likely to tip up at the front and down at the back.
Conventional Saddle Fitting approaches this issue by adding more depth to the panels of the saddle at the back, but as flocking is added, it makes the panels harder and more angular at the back. Not a pony friendly features at all!
BALANCE approach this challenge by providing the Remedial B Pad in this ¼" depth in a size that is in proportion to use under the BALANCE Junior range of saddles.
This Remedial B pad is made up with a single layer of ¼" 'gel-foam'.
It can be used on top of the Extra Thick Wool Pads. It has the hook side of a hook/loop fastening system on the underside so that it can be attached to the loop side of the tape that is found on top of these Junior size, Extra Thick Wool Pads and the Base Pads.
IMPORTANT: THE MOST COMMON REASON FOR CONVENTIONALLY FITTED SADDLES TO TIP BACK AND LOOK AS IF THEY NEED THIS KIND OF PAD……IS THAT THEY HAVE BEEN FITTED TOO NARROW. IF THIS IS THE CASE, THE BALANCE REMEDIAL PAD MUST NOT BE USED TO CREATE A LEVEL SURFACE FOR THE RIDER. THE SOLUTION IN THIS SITUATION, IS TO FIND A BETTER WIDTH OF SADDLE THAT SITS LOWER AT THE FRONT!

- Treeless and Bareback pads in Child Sizes (indeed this pad can be very helpful with treeless and bareback pads)
